Working together to create a wonderful display for the County Show

We were inspired by a range of modern art pieces but especially liked the work by Jim Moir.

Flower Themed Clay Bowls

After studying and sketching flowers in the school grounds and at Strickley Farm, the children created their own designs. Some chose to create realistic flower designs whilst others chose to be more imaginative.  They had to think about the size and shaping of the bowls, as well as the colours and impressions into the clay.

Class 3's Trip to Levens Hall

The children had a wonderful time learning about the history and the management of this world-famous garden.  The staff were so welcoming and knowledgable! Thank you.

We took some large pieces of card and wax crayons to draw the sculptural topairy.  It was lovely to hear the praise the children received from the public.

Watercolour Painting in Bleaze Hall Wood

What a beautiful tranquil morning we had.  The children took such care to truly observe.  We learnt about changing the density of the watercolours and to select and use the brushes in different ways.

We also got to see the cows!

Our chalk pastel pictures are out of this world!

Class 4 have been mastering the technique of drawing using soft, chalk pastels.  They have learnt to blend the colours and smudge them to create different effects.

Can you see how they have even managed to create a 3D effect by changing the density and shade of the colours?

Class 2 Observational Painting with Rory's Grandma

We are so lucky to have such wonderful support from our families.  The children had a wonderful time and certainly gained from the expertise of Rory's grandma.
